Artist Ranch Project

The Artist Ranch Project is an initiative designed to create a discourse about western heritage and values for the 21st century while inviting contemporary artists to reexamine what it means to experience Western Canada from a traditional perspective… our western heritage and the majesty of our physical environment.
Contemporary artists are invited each year to visit and experience a working ranch in Alberta. In 2008 the artists visited the Stampede Ranch. They spent the following year creating artworks inspired by the visit, and exhibited them at the 2009 Calgary Stampede Western Showcase.
That same year, a second group of artists were invited to visit the historic Cross Ranch in southern Alberta.
