Fred Boyer

Fred Boyer has lived in Montana all his life. He graduated in art from Montana State University. He taught art for 15 years in Alaska and Montana at various academic levels from kindergarten to college. He has been sculpting for 28 years and has been a full-tim artist for 18 years.

Fred's main subject matters are wildlife and sporting art. Before he begins each sculpture, he draws or makes simple sketches to create the composition. He uses photographs, models and video to achieve a satisfactory level of accuracy and detail. He sculpts in plastolina clay and wax.

Fred has travelled extensively for research on his subject matter. He visits Alaska frequently and has travelled to Africa on numerous occasions.

In 2008, Fred was named Calgary Stampede Best New Artist.
