Michael Sterling Bryant
A combination of skill, love and admiration for birds, mammals, fish and wood inspired Michael to pursue his passion of creating art with his own hands, by turning natural wood shapes into sculptures.
Each piece of sculpture he creates tells its’ own story of nature through his eyes. It begins with a walk through the vast High Desert of Oregon in search of wonderful pieces of wood already shaped by their environment. From a raw log, an idea starts and a feeling. The actual process of carving, shaping and smoothing character into these pieces comes from his personal connection to nature.
Michael is nationally recognized for his exceptional wild life, and equine wood sculptures. With a great understanding of fine woods and the tools he works with, his masterpieces are sought after by private and corporate collectors.
The artist lives in Oregon with his wife and three kids where he operates out of his studio. Highlights from 2007 include receiving “Best Artisan” award at the Calgary Stampede Western Showcase and an invitation to create a sculpture for the High Desert Museum’s “Century Old Ranches” show.
